Eva Rajo Iglesias
Associate Professor

She was born in Monforte de Lemos, Spain, in 1972. She received the M.Sc. degree in telecommunication engineering from the University of Vigo, Vigo, Spain, in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree in telecommunication from the University Carlos III of Madrid, Madrid, Spain, in 2002. She was an Assistant Teacher with the University Carlos III of Madrid from 1997 to 2001. She joined the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Cartagena, Spain, as an Assistant Teacher, in 2001. She joined University Carlos III of Madrid as a Visiting Lecturer in 2002, where she has been an Associate Professor with the Department of Signal Theory and Communications since 2004.

She visited the Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden, as a Guest Researcher, in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008, and has been an Affiliate Professor with the Antenna Group, Signals and Systems Department, since 2009.

She has authored or co-authored more than 40 papers in international journals and more than 80 papers in international conferences. Her current research interests include microstrip patch antennas and arrays, metamaterials and periodic structures, and optimization methods applied to electromagnetism.

José-Luis Vázquez-Roy
Associate Professor

He was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1969. He received the Ingeniero de Telecomunicación and the Ph.D. degrees from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, in 1993 and 1999, respectively.

In 1999 he joined the ‘Teoría de la Señal y Comunicaciones’ Department at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid where he is currently an Associate Professor.

His research activities and interests include the development and characterization of planar antennas and circuits, the analysis of UWB antennas and the time domain computational electromagnetics.

Luis Inclán-Sánchez
Associate Professor

He was born in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, in 1974. He received the Licenciado degree in physics, from the Autónoma University of Madrid, Madrid, Spain, in 1999 and the Ph.D. degree in telecommunication from University Carlos III of Madrid, Madrid, Spain, in 2008.

From 2000 to 2001, he worked at the Spanish National Research Council in Madrid. In 2001 he joined the Department of Signal Theory and Communications, University Carlos III of Madrid where he is currently an Associate Professor.

His main research interests include the analysis and characterization of periodic structures and planar antennas and circuits development.

Darwin-Joel Blanco
PhD Student

He was born in Valledupar, Colombia, in 1982. He received his B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Antioquia, Antioquia, Colombia, in 2009, and the Master degrees in Multimedia and Communications from the University Carlos III de Madrid, Madrid, Spain, in 2011.

Currently he is doing his Ph.D. Degree in Multimedia and Communications at the University Carlos III de Madrid, Madrid, Spain. His current research interests include leaky wave antennas, frequency selective surfaces and phase array antennas.

Oscar Quevedo-Teruel
Assistant Professor

Oscar Quevedo-Teruel is Assistant Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (Sweden).

He obtained his PhD at Carlos III University of Madrid in 2010; and he was invited post-doctoral researcher at University of Delft (Netherlands) in 2010; and post-doctoral research fellow at Department of Theoretical Physics of Condensed Matter (Universidad Autonoma de Madrid) in 2010-2011; and postdoctoral research assistant in the School School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London in 2011-2013.

His research topics are: optimization techniques applied to electromagnetism, small antennas, reconfigurable antennas, multimode antennas for MIMO systems, periodic structures, metamaterials, transformation optics, subwavelength imaging, soft and hard surfaces, textile antennas and on-body antennas. He is co-author of more than 30 papers in international journals, and more than 50 in international conferences. He was general chair of the last Young Scientist Meeting on Metamaterials in 2009.

He was awarded with the Carlos III University of Madrid Award of Excellence 2010 to the best professional career of former students who obtained the university degree from February 2004 to November 2006. He received the National Award Arquimedes to the best supervisor of M. Sc. Theses in Engineering and Archicture 2010. And he received in 2012 the Raj Mitra Travel Grant to attend to Antennas and Propagation Symposium in Chicago.
